Some say you can’t have it all when it comes to sunset beach portraits. “It will either be too dark, or completely blown out” As a Tampa maternity photographer, I beg to differ. Case in point, my most recent beach maternity session featuring Gabby, Tyler, and soon to be baby girl.
location, location, location!
Gabby and Tyler knew they wanted sunset beach portraits. They have recently moved here from Kentucky and are loving everything Florida, the beach, and our amazing sunsets. Having their maternity session at sunset on one of their favorite beaches was a no brainer. We met at Sand Key Park on Clearwater beach and got started capturing the beautiful blue skies.
deciding what to wear
With all my sessions, Gabby and Tyler received their What to Wear Guide, and decided on two different outfits. Both were stunning and I always encourage a clothing change for a maternity session. This way we get lots of different looks and my clients always have the hardest time choosing their favorites 🙂 Classic white, ivory, or cream looks great with the beach sunset colors, and a pop of detail on her second more flowy dress really looked great at sunset.
your comfort is top priority
Striving to always make my clients feel comfortable, especially maternity sessions, I allow for time to walk out to the beach and take breaks whenever needed. I give posing guidance and direction the entire session, so you will never feel awkward or stiff. This allows for a natural progression of poses and allows us to get perfect smiles looking at camera shots, as well as candid moments throughout the continuous session.

With a sunset that didn’t disappoint, we captured some amazing shots of the setting sun with Gabby highlighted in a few on her own, and some really neat silhouette images. These were some of Tyler’s favorites and I have to agree! This is what Gabby and Tyler had to say about their session:
